Every sports leader would say leading a global tour is far from standard office hours.

Newly appointed Women's Tennis Association (WTA) president Valerie Camillo is familiar with dedicated effort through her career - including one on the commercial board for a tourism firm managing American iconic singer Dolly Parton's entertainment venues.

As well as her contributions regarding Parton's portfolio, Camillo takes over the top of women's tennis with a wealth of experience across sport and entertainment, having held key executive jobs at the world's premier basketball league, major league hockey and Major League Baseball (MLB).

Camillo commences her new role at the WTA next month, replacing the outgoing Steve Simon, whose 10-year tenure concludes upon his departure.

The previous leader stepped down as chief executive and chairman recently - which followed tennis legend Martina Navratilova advocating for reform - and the organizational shift finalizes through naming the new chair.

Camillo's familiarity regarding business complexity across premier competitions - specifically their methods for audience expansion and secure funding using new ideas - considered an important factor behind her appointment.

Joining women's tennis coincides with "a moment of accelerated growth and opportunity", says the WTA.

Currently represents in female athletics. Income produced in women's competitions last year reached record levels and industry experts predict reaching $2.5bn (£1.8bn) within six years.

Her primary objective involves securing the tour and top players - headed by Coco Gauff, Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek - take a significant slice from the growth.

"Our organization includes top competitors in the world and occupy a privileged spot within the industry," Camillo told.

"In women's competitions, investment, audiences and media engagement are increasing exponentially.

"For most part the difficulty facing female athletics requires creating visibility, gaining audience and engagement," added Camillo.

"Our challenge is a little different - with over five decades of history, we have an incredible legacy, extensive international reach, and including highly visible, top-compensated female athletes in the world."
