In “It’s a Deal”, a flashback reveals that fan-favorite personality Alastor the Radio Demon was a serial killer in his mortal days. Knowing full well he was destined for Hell, he established communication with the afterlife beforehand to obtain a powerful role in Hell. The charismatic leader, the charismatic leader the cannibal faction in Hell, vowed Alastor he would become “the strongest Sinner in Hell” in exchange for his eternal spirit.

This raises an important query: How is Rosie powerful enough to elevate Alastor over every other Sinner Demons?

“The agreement between Rosie and Alastor is the initial building block in a much bigger story that involves a great deal, leading into season 3,” the showrunner explains. “Clearly that is an excellent question: How is she so strong? The solution could be various factors, but the revelation is in season three. I am thrilled for people to witness it.”

There’s no telling how long viewers will have to wait for Hazbin Hotel’s third season. The production companies have approved seasons 3 and 4, but the showrunner often notes that animated production is a time-consuming endeavor, and later seasons have no release dates yet. Still, she says withholding on specific information is an important part of maintaining season 2’s focus in the right places.

“The challenge of any kind of deal with demons, or narratives that have mysteries, is providing the audience just enough information to be like, Something's up here, and then revealing that as we go, and allowing that be satisfying,” she comments. “So I'm very excited.”

Mysteries Resolved in The Next Season

The creator promises that season 3 will tackle the queries followers have been asking, such as why the cannibal leader ordered Alastor to disappear for seven years, which diminished his power in Hell.

“The whole seven years, and the deals these individuals are doing, and everything — it contributes to a larger story,” she says.

In the meantime, the Rosie/Alastor backstory episode provides another glimpse into what the main characters of Demonic Sinners appeared as as humans, the second after viewing another character's historical human form in episode 2. She explains that a lot of thought was put into the visual creation of these forms.

“The mortal forms of the characters hold so much weight,” she notes. “They range from appearing quite distinct from their demon form to seeming very similar. With Pentious, the initial design we see, there was a little bit of a debate within the team between choosing a design that represents the personality, as opposed to selecting something that's very time-period accurate. We opted for making something that just felt like it was him.”

She says the primary controversy over the mortal look of Pentious was his lengthy locks: “We were like, ‘No one typically had extended hair of that style in that historical period.’ But at the same time, we believe the silhouette is so important, and we also just felt he looked good. We were like, ‘This just feels right.’ We sort of provided the rationale that he lived in seclusion, so he just let his hair grow out. So there is always a solution. As we create the mortal forms of these personas […] it is a very enjoyable process to investigate and determine. I am looking forward for people to view additional of what the human forms look like.”
